As part of a re-imagining of this Midtown Manhattan office tower and public plaza, Fisher Brothers Development sought to gain access to unused space under the plaza and convert it to rentable square footage. We proposed installing a monumental elliptical glass canopy, supported at an angle by an arching beam across the entrance. This lens-like structure covers the sunken space, providing daylight, sky views and a visual connection between the plaza and the commercial area below. The combined effect serves as a beacon for passersby and an entry point to the newly activated space.
