Created for the world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud, this project includes the white-tablecloth French restaurant Lumiere and the more casual DB Bistro Moderne. The latter, in particular, exhibits a deft touch with materials, tones and textures, putting a modern spin on the classic Parisian bistro. The bar area features herringbone travertine flooring, a zinc bar top, and, behind the bar, a woven and polished stainless-steel installation. Handcrafted glass pendants, based on 1960s Italian design, illuminate the bar. A screen of sawtooth-bronze glass, set in a rolled steel frame, separates the bar and the dining room, where custom-designed oxblood leather chairs complement brown and copper-hued leather banquets. A private dining room has floor-to-ceiling wine racks made of oil-quenched steel and a wall finished in rich brown and red leather tiles.
