This reimagination of a design completed for the Giorgio Armani Corporation in 2001 maintains the personality of the original, with industrial cinder-block walls juxtaposed with a polished and honed Jet Mist Granite floor. In creating the initial plans, HGX principal Hal Goldstein, a cofounder and managing director of Janson Goldstein (1995–2020), and his partner were influenced by their visit to a 1995 Sol LeWitt exhibition at the Ace Gallery in New York. Shortly after, Goldstein attended an event at the Richard Meier–designed Rachofsky House in Dallas, where he first encountered Jet Mist floors. These two experiences informed the genesis of this gallery concept — one that, all these years later, still speaks to the spirit of downtown.
